We will explore the characteristic lanes of the old town, discovering hidden courtyards, historic palaces, churches and the traditions that have shaped life here for centuries.

Along the way, I will introduce you to some of the stories that make Sorrento special — from its ancient origins to the fascinating cultural connections that have linked the town with travellers, writers and artists from around the world.

The heart of Sorrento: Piazza Tasso

Sooner or later, every visit to Sorrento leads to Piazza Tasso, the lively heart of the town.

Named after the famous poet Torquato Tasso, who was born in Sorrento, the square is where local life, cafés, shops and visitors come together.

From here, we can explore the streets branching into the historic centre and discover some of the details that are easily missed when simply following the main tourist route.

Sorrento’s hidden treasures

Depending on your interests, the tour can be enriched with visits to some of Sorrento’s cultural and historic treasures.

We can explore places such as the Sedile Dominova, the historic meeting place of Sorrento’s aristocracy, the Cathedral of Sorrento, and the Basilica of Sant’Antonino, dedicated to the town’s patron saint.

For art lovers, the Correale Museum can also be included upon request, offering an opportunity to discover the history, art and collections of one of Sorrento’s most important historic families.

Follow the scent of lemons

You cannot truly experience Sorrento without encountering its most famous symbol: the lemon.

Lemons are everywhere — in gardens, courtyards, desserts, drinks and local cuisine.

One of my favourite parts of the walk is heading towards Marina Grande, Sorrento’s historic fishing village.

The atmosphere changes completely.

Away from the elegant streets of the centre, you will find colourful fishing boats, small restaurants, the sea and the dramatic cliffs rising behind the village.

It is one of those places where you can stop for a moment, look around and understand why Sorrento has inspired generations of travellers.
